Monitoring of a patient’s cardiorespiratory status is essential for optimal outcomes. Seamless integration of end-tidal CO2, volumetric capnography and SpO2 monitoring in the NKV-550 Series Ventilator System help the clinician optimize ventilator settings and assess changing patient conditions. Having a fully integrated suite of monitoring tools helps reduce the need to purchase additional equipment to be placed at the already-crowded bedside.
A new class ultra-compact and highly durable CO2 sensor.
Nihon Kohden’s cap-ONE employs advanced miniaturization of infrared absorption spectroscopy system and its sensor has achieved an extremely light and small size with a weight of 4 g with the dead space of 0.5 mL. Also, by using an anti-fogging membrane, a motor and heater are not required. This results in a sensor that is about 80% lighter and 90% smaller than typical CO2 sensors.
The highly durable cap-ONE, withstands a drop test of 100 falls from a height of 2 m, 5,000 flex tests with a 400 g load and a water test 30 minutes.
The principle of pulse oximetry was developed by Nihon Kohden researcher Takuo Aoyagi in the early 1970’s. Pulse oximetry measures blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) non-invasively with an infrared sensor on the fingertip. Before that, the measurement of blood oxygen saturation required arterial blood sampling. Thanks to pulse oximetry, the critical parameter of SpO2 can be measured painlessly, continuously and in real time.
